Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Hoa receives Delegation of Executive Board Bureau of UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women

On December 12th, 2014, at Headquarters of Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Hoa had a cordial meeting with the Delegation of Executive Board Bureau of UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) led by Mr. Gonzalo Koncke Pizzorno, President of UN women. Attending the meeting were representatives of the Department of International Cooperation and Department of Gender Equality.

In the meeting, Mr. Gonzalo Koncke Pizzorno said that after 5 working days in Vietnam, the delegation had the opportunity to visit many places, many localities in order to study about the effects of climate change to women and girls in Vietnam. Thereby, Mr. Gonzalo Koncke Pizzorno highly appreciated the achievements of Vietnam in the work of gender equality. He hoped that in the future the two sides would strengthen cooperation in the major content, such as, promoting commitment gender equality in Vietnam; Developing the capacity to access decent work for women; Consolidating and performing more strongly the prevention women from violence and promoting the participation of women in the case of the impacts of climate change in Vietnam.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Hoa thanked Mr. Gonzalo Koncke Pizzorno for taking an interest in gender equality in Vietnam. Deputy Minister expected hearing more opinions of the Delegation in order to the Ministry could carry out better the task of gender equality. He also said that since the Law on Gender Equality issued, so far, Vietnam has made many changes in gender equality and the advancement of women from central to local levels, as well as some progress in the legal framework for gender equality. Vietnam awared gender equality as the long term work needs the patience, to improve the awareness of people about gender equality. Deputy Minister completely agreed with the contents that Mr. Gonzalo Koncke Pizzorno recommended and emphasized the necessity of improving the qualifications of state management staffs on gender equality.
In conclusion, Deputy Minister hoped UN Women would accompany with Vietnam in the implementation of gender equality in the future. Deputy wishes the visit of Delegation would success and hoped the Delegation would have many good impressions on Vietnam.
